It takes a particular blend of experience and humanity to "decode" complex topics in engaging ways.
That's what T3 Sixty economist Dr. Paul Bishop and manager/associate broker J. Philip Faranda bring, and that's what the National Association of Real Estate Editors honored at their annual conference this week.
These are the first NAREE Awards for Real Estate News, which launched at the end of October. The awards were given for work produced in 2022, and past honorees include the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post.
"Two awards after two months — just think what we're going to have after 12 months!" said Real Estate News founder and Executive Chairman Stefan Swanepoel.
Bishop, who was VP of research at NAR prior to joining T3 Sixty, won the silver award for Best Regular or Syndicated Real Estate column with "Six housing stats to watch," part of the Real Estate News "Housing Market Decoded" series. From the nomination:
"Decisions in residential real estate are often based on data that can be conflicting and confusing. Dr. Paul Bishop, an expert in economic analysis and research, writes Housing Market Decoded columns to put data in context so everyone can make sense of the numbers. This column in particular helps people understand which data is most telling and why."
Faranda, a broker-owner for 18 years prior to joining Howard Hanna | Rand Realty in May as manager and associate broker, writes for the Real Estate News "Agents Decoded" series and won the bronze award for Best Regular or Syndicated Real Estate column with "When it's time to fire your client." From the nomination:
"J. Philip Faranda is a seasoned real estate broker-owner and blogger who tackles the thorniest of topics in thoughtful and actionable ways in his regular 'Agents Decoded' columns for Real Estate News. Faranda brings a personable approach and a perspective shaped by his experience closing hundreds of deals and embracing leadership roles within the industry."
