Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.

LeadingRE elevates 2 leaders to its C-suite

Two women were recently promoted to top leadership positions at Chicago-based Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.

Kate Reisinger is now chief operating officer, and Jessica Edgerton is chief legal officer at LeadingRE.

Reisinger, who joined the company in 2019 as EVP of Member Services, will help solidify the company's position as the global authority on real estate services in her new role as COO, according to a news release.

"Since joining our company, the scope of Kate's responsibilities and the depth of her contributions have continuously expanded. Her business acumen, experience in building opportunities for our members through referrals, and the strength of her relationships within our network and beyond have made her an invaluable member of our leadership team," said LeadingRE CEO Paul Boomsma.

Edgerton joined LeadingRE in 2018 as EVP of operations and corporate counsel. In her new role, she will oversee the company's legal affairs, including regulatory compliance, trademark protection and contract management.

She will also take on the role of executive vice president of industry and learning, heading the LeadingRE Institute, an online learning platform, and other learning initiatives.

"Jessica has had a powerful impact on our company since joining us in 2018. Her expertise on the legal issues that impact our industry is remarkable, and she can disseminate complex legal information in a way that is relatable and applicable for our members in their day-to-day business," said Boomsma.

Addressable taps former Opendoor exec for COO role

Katie DeCarlo was recently hired as chief operating officer at Addressable, a real estate platform that uses artificial intelligence and homeowner data to help agents with lead generation.

The company also announced that it reached a significant milestone, helping generate more than $2 billion in home sales for its customers since 2020.

DeCarlo has more than a decade of experience in leadership roles at tech firms, most recently overseeing Opendoor's Open Exchange enterprise platform.

"I couldn't be more excited to join Addressable at this exciting milestone," says DeCarlo. "The team has built a category-defining platform, the center of which is customer value and experience. I can't wait to deliver these innovations to more and more businesses to help them unlock the benefits many already experienced."

With the appointment of DeCarlo, Addressable's leadership circle is now 50% women — which is notable, the company said, in industries like real estate and tech where leadership roles are typically dominated by men.

"We welcome Amanda to this leadership role at Women's Council," said Chris Pelkola Lee, the council's 2023 national president.
