Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.

Coldwell Banker taps longtime BHHS exec for president role

Coldwell Banker Affiliates has named a new president.

Jason Waugh, who previously served for many years as president and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northwest Real Estate and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Real Estate Professionals, will now lead one of the country's largest real estate franchise brands.

Waugh will take over the position held by Liz Gehringer, who moved into an expanded role with Anywhere in March as president and CEO of Anywhere Franchise Brands.

As president of the Coldwell Banker brand, Waugh, who has experience not only as an executive but as an agent and brokerage owner, will oversee strategy, affiliate operations and franchise sales.

"Jason is a remarkable leader who brings both a deep understanding of real estate and a sharp sales acumen, drawn from his diverse range of business experience," said Gehringer, who added that Baugh offers "the leadership attributes and vision for growth that will be invaluable to our affiliate partners."

Coldwell Banker has witnessed several leadership changes over the past year. In December, Ryan Gorman stepped down as CEO of Coldwell Banker Realty, Anywhere's company-owned brokerage operation. Sue Yannaconne, president and CEO of Anywhere Brands, took over as CEO until the appointment of Kamini Lane in March.

In June, Coldwell Banker Realty announced a shakeup of its regional leadership.

Burchard will lead "personal development and growth efforts" for platform partners as well as PLACE employees, the company said in a news release.

As chief growth advisor, Burchard, a best-selling author and coach, will create a customized personal development plan for PLACE teams and staff, who will also have access to his GrowthDay coaching app. The company noted that since its founding in 2020, it has already invested heavily in training spanning professional, motivational, leadership and financial topics.

"Brendon is a top motivational speaker and trainer, and his philosophy on personal growth is very much aligned with our vision for PLACE. Growth is a foundational value for us, so turning our collaboration with Brendon into a partnership was a natural next step," said PLACE Co-Founder Chris Suarez.
