Anywhere appoints new head of communications
Barri Rafferty, a media relations pro with prior CEO experience, will lead Anywhere’s communications teams as the brokerage eyes new growth opportunities.
Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.
Anywhere is bulking up its communications team with the addition of Barri Rafferty, an experienced business leader who will now serve as the brokerage giant's chief communications officer and head of public affairs.
In her new role, Rafferty will oversee public relations, communications, government relations, and events and productions for Anywhere brands.
Rafferty has previously held the CEO title at several companies, including the business consulting firm Sodali & Co., the PR and communications firm Ketchum, and the women's business leadership organization C200. She is currently a board member for the AI-driven health services platform Guidehealth.
Rafferty "is a dynamic leader with a proven record of success leading and elevating established global brands" whose "expertise in delivering powerful messaging for a variety of stakeholders will be a substantial asset as we continue to strengthen our brands among broker, agent, investor, and consumer audiences alike," Anywhere President and CEO Ryan Schneider said in a press release.
Schneider added that Rafferty's skill set would benefit the company "as we embark on the next phase of our ongoing transformation and growth strategy."
For her part, Rafferty praised Anywhere's "mission to provide a superior, end-to-end transaction experience" for buyers and sellers, noting that the company's collection of franchise brands "puts Anywhere in an ideal position to elevate the company's status as the foremost leader in trust, integrity, and performance for consumers and agents across the globe."
Rafferty's appointment comes just over a month after the brand announced that Steve Capezza, a former executive at Side and Zillow, was tapped to be Anywhere's new SVP of growth and M&A.
Anywhere continues to rank as the No. 1 real estate enterprise in the U.S., while its owned brokerage, Anywhere Advisors, came in at No. 2 on T3 Sixty's 2025 Mega 1000 list of top brokerages by sales volume. Even as it dominates much of the real estate landscape, franchise brand leaders said during last month's T3 Leadership Summit that growth will remain a point of focus for the company moving forward.
