PLACE poised to ‘dramatically expand’ amid new acquisition
The real estate tech company said the move adds “deep industry expertise, strong customer relationships and complementary capabilities” to its growing platform.
Real estate technology company PLACE is adding some key capabilities to its growing portfolio through an acquisition of Radian Group's real estate services and title businesses.
One deal closed, another in progress: In an announcement this week on LinkedIn, PLACE said that adding Radian's real estate services — an acquisition it completed earlier this month — will bring AI-powered consumer experiences, digital closings, national title capabilities and property intelligence to its platform.
PLACE is now in the process of buying Radian's title business, a deal that the company said will expand its title and closing offerings as well. That acquisition is expected to close in Q4 of 2026 pending regulatory approval and other typical closing conditions. Terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed.
An alignment with PLACE's mission: "These businesses bring deep industry expertise, strong customer relationships and complementary capabilities that align well with PLACE's mission to support real estate professionals, homeowners and institutional clients with technology-enabled services," said Ben Kinney, co-founder and CEO of PLACE, in a news release.
For Radian, a company focused on providing specialty and private mortgage insurance, the sale is part of its previously announced plan to divest non-core businesses.
"We are proud of the talented teams behind our Real Estate Services and Title businesses and the meaningful impact they have created for customers," Radian CEO Rick Thornberry said, adding that the company believes PLACE "is well positioned to build on their success."
PLACE's headcount grows: In a separate post on LinkedIn, Kinney noted that the acquisition also adds nearly 300 Radian employees to his company, which is headquartered in Washington state.
"This acquisition allows Place to dramatically expand its institutional offerings across some of the largest financial institutions in America," Kinney wrote.
The announcement follows a handful of executive appointments that PLACE has made this year. In January, the company announced that Chris Heller, an industry veteran and former executive at Keller Williams, was joining its C-suite as PLACE's first chief revenue officer. The tech firm made another C-suite change in June, bringing former Inman CEO Emily Paquette on as chief strategy officer, and welcomed former Lower and OJO leader Mike Ryan as its new executive vice president of business development last month.
