SkyTour gives buyers a bird's-eye view — and agents a new edge

One of Zillow's latest features takes listings to new heights — literally. SkyTour, now available on eligible Zillow Showcase listings, turns drone footage into an interactive, 3D experience that lets buyers explore a home's exterior like they're piloting a drone.

With a few swipes, buyers can virtually 'fly' around the property, tilt and zoom from different angles, and get a better sense of layout, lot size and surroundings — all from their phone or laptop.

And for agents, it's a standout way to grab attention and drive engagement.

Immersive previews that sell

More than ever, buyers expect immersive ways to explore a potential home, so they can picture themselves in the space before even walking onto the property and make their in-person showing even more impactful. According to Zillow research:

  • 70% of buyers say 3D tours give them a better feel for a space than still images

  • 62% of buyers wish more listings had 3D tours available

  • 94% of buyers used at least one online resource (website, mobile, app) when searching for a home

SkyTour responds to that demand with something no other platform currently offers at scale: a drone-style experience where buyers can "fly" around a property, controlling the view from different angles and heights as if piloting a drone.

Built with cutting-edge tech

SkyTour is powered by drone footage captured through Zillow Media Experts and enhanced with Gaussian splatting, a modeling technique used in gaming and visual effects. The result: smooth, realistic movement that turns scattered drone data into a seamless 3D view.

Why this matters for agents and sellers

SkyTour makes listings stand out, especially in a market where buyers are doing more exploration online before they ever book a showing. It creates a more engaging experience and keeps serious shoppers on the listing longer.

For agents, it's an easy way to show clients they're using the latest technology to market their home. In fact, 71% of sellers say they're more likely to hire an agent who includes virtual tours and/or interactive floor plans in their services.

Standing out with SkyTour

  • Mention it in your listing descriptions to highlight the added value

  • Screen record a SkyTour session to share on social media

  • Use it during virtual buyer consultations, especially with out-of-town clients

  • Feature it in listing presentations to show sellers how you'll market their home

A small detail makes a big impact

With SkyTour, agents can give buyers an unforgettable first look and sellers the confidence that their home is being marketed with the latest, most engaging technology available.

As real estate becomes increasingly digital, tools like SkyTour help agents stay ahead — offering the kind of innovation buyers and sellers expect.

SkyTour is available for Showcase listings when drone footage is captured through the Zillow Media Experts premium package in select markets. You can learn more about Showcase here.
