Zillow ushers in the next era of real estate with the Zillow App in ChatGPT
As the first real estate brand with an app in ChatGPT, Zillow is setting the standard for responsible AI innovation, built on trust, compliance, collaboration.
On OpenAI's global Dev Day stage Oct. 6, Zillow became the first real estate company to launch an app inside ChatGPT. Now, with 800 million people using ChatGPT each week, home shoppers can start their search right where they're already exploring. The Zillow App provides a direct path for prospective buyers to explore listings, connect with an agent and move forward. It's a breakthrough moment for real estate innovation, bringing visibility to agents and their listings in a new way.
A new chapter in real estate
The Zillow App in ChatGPT gives consumers a conversational way to explore homes, neighborhoods and affordability, all powered by Zillow's trusted housing insights, real-time listings and technology. A user can type, "Zillow, show me homes under $600,000 in Denver," and instantly receive real listings complete with photos, maps and pricing, with clear MLS and broker attribution.
From there, consumers can seamlessly transition to the full Zillow experience to schedule a tour, connect with an agent or explore financing. This new integration serves the agent, their listings and real estate information upfront to a home shopper in an unprecedented way.
Innovation that lifts the whole industry
As the first real estate brand with an app in ChatGPT, Zillow is setting the standard for responsible AI innovation, built on trust, compliance and collaboration.
This partnership underscores what sets Zillow apart: decades of AI investment, brand trust and a history of translating big technology shifts into real breakthroughs for consumer
s who want to rent, buy, sell or borrow. Zillow has consistently led the way in blending technology and humanity to make home search more transparent and empowering — from the beginning with the Zestimate to the most recent launch of SkyTour. Zillow is driving innovation to make real estate better for consumers and the professionals who serve them.
Expanding listing visibility
For agents and brokers, this experience creates new exposure without extra effort. Listings now reach millions of consumers on one of the world's most popular AI platforms and every action still happens within the Zillow ecosystem.
When a prospective buyer schedules a tour, connects with an agent or applies for financing, those interactions route through Zillow's trusted systems and that data does not go to ChatGPT. Consumers still want and need an agent to guide them through one of the most complex and significant financial transactions of their lives and this experience helps bring more informed consumers to the table.
Designed with the industry in mind
OpenAI does not have access to MLS data. Zillow's App in ChatGPT operates entirely within Zillow's existing MLS agreements and uses the same IDX data and protections that power Zillow.com. The experience is a Zillow-controlled, IDX-compliant display, just like Zillow.com or the Zillow mobile app. It's simply delivered through a new conversational interface.
Zillow worked with OpenAI to represent many industry interests with this product launch and carefully manages what information is displayed, how it appears and how users interact with it to ensure a consistent, trustworthy experience. No MLS data is transmitted to, licensed to or used by OpenAI for AI training. The result is an MLS-compliant, agent-safe experience that showcases listings responsibly while maintaining data integrity and industry trust.
The next big shift
This is a foundational shift in how people discover, explore and ultimately move through the housing journey. With conversational AI, Zillow is once again leading innovation in the real estate industry, helping consumers discover homes in a new way through ChatGPT and connecting them with agents to help them on their housing journey.
