Redfin has become the latest portal to roll out an app in ChatGPT, a move that the company said will allow consumers to have a more conversational experience as they search for homes.

What the app does: The company announced the rollout on Feb. 6. In a news release, Redfin said the app enables consumers to ask specific housing-related questions and refine their search without needing to re-enter criteria.

Launching this app "is our way of making home search easier and better as more people use AI platforms to get important information," Redfin SVP of Product and Design Ariel Dos Santos said in the announcement.

"We believe this additional entry point into our listings and data will make home searchers' lives easier, and the experience aligns with our goal of making home search less about filters and more conversational," Dos Santos added.

Launch reflects wider embrace of new tech: Redfin described the introduction of an app within ChatGPT as part of a broader effort to make the home search process feel more natural for users.

The rollout also marks another step in the company's embrace of artificial intelligence following earlier launches of Ask Redfin in the spring of 2024 and its AI-driven conversational search tool last fall.

Other portals have similarly been exploring opportunities with AI-powered tech. In October 2025, Zillow introduced its own app in ChatGPT, a move that sparked debate about the new tech's impact on industry rules, particularly those pertaining to IDX compliance.

Rental platform Zumper also launched a search app within ChatGPT earlier this week in a move that the company said would provide its users with "real-time market insights through conversation."

AI momentum builds: The use of AI tools in real estate has been on the rise over the past few years. A recent Delta Media Group survey conducted among brokerage leaders found that 97% said their agents use AI tools, up from 80% in 2024. Agents primarily use these tools to help with content creation, according to Delta Media's latest survey.
