B&W appoints new CMO; Rocket expands industry relations team
Brand strategy exec Jeanette Cutler joins Baird & Warner. Plus, Rocket taps trade journalist for principal IR role; ARMLS unveils new independent board; more.
Editor's note: As an industry with millions of agents and over 100,000 brokerage companies, new leaders rise to the top every day. Here we highlight executives and other notable leaders who've recently taken on, or stepped away from, roles that influence the residential real estate landscape.
B&W looks 'beyond traditional boundaries' for C-suite appointment
Baird & Warner has named Jeanette Cutler chief marketing officer, adding a brand strategy executive from outside the real estate industry to lead the brokerage's marketing, communications and growth initiatives.
Cutler joins the Chicago-based independent brokerage from Beam Suntory, where she served as global vice president of brand and capability. In her new role, she will oversee Baird & Warner's marketing, communications and brand development efforts while partnering with company leadership to support agent growth and strengthen the firm's market position, according to a news release.
Cutler's appointment follows recent leadership changes, including the promotions of Lucy Baird to chief stewardship officer and vice chair of the board and Laura Ellis to chief revenue officer in May. The company said Cutler's experience developing brand strategy and customer engagement programs will help support the company's continued growth.
Cutler "has a proven track record of building brands, driving business results and creating connections that resonate with consumers," Baird & Warner President and CEO Steve Baird said. "While her depth of experience comes from outside the real estate industry, that perspective is exactly what makes this appointment so exciting and is an example of how the best ideas often come from looking beyond traditional boundaries."
Editorial director joins Rocket as IR leader
Rocket has appointed Jim Dalrymple to serve as principal of industry relations — a newly announced role focused on strengthening relationships across the real estate industry.
Dalrymple was most recently the editorial director at Inman, where he covered brokerage, MLS, mortgage, proptech and housing policy issues during his seven years with the publication. In his new role at Rocket, he will work with MLSs, trade associations, brokerages and technology partners, helping build relationships and communicate Rocket's strategy as the company continues to expand its homeownership platform alongside Redfin, which Rocket acquired last year.
Dalrymple will focus on engaging industry stakeholders and supporting conversations around the future of housing and real estate, the company said in a post on Redfin. The appointment is part of Rocket's broader investment in industry partnerships as it seeks to connect home search, financing and servicing through its platform.
Dalrymple "brings something rare: genuine credibility with the people and organizations across this industry, earned over years of fair and rigorous reporting," said Joe Rath, Rocket's head of industry relations. "He understands the complexity of the issues we're all navigating right now, and he brings trusted relationships that will be important as Rocket propels this industry forward."
Dalrymple said he is "thrilled to join Rocket during what is clearly a singular moment for the business of helping people find, finance and own homes."
ARMLS names first independent members to new board
Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service (ARMLS) has appointed its first board of directors under the MLS's new governance model announced earlier this year. Three independent directors have been named as the organization embarks on a two-year transition to a fully independent board.
The new board includes:
Jessica Hickok, CEO of the Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO); appointed to a five-year term
Marinda Neumann, managing attorney at Neumann & Associates; appointed to a four-year term
Lisa Larson, founder of Caleo and former executive with Restb, Clareity and ATTOM; appointed to a three-year term
Three current ARMLS board members will serve as transitional directors as the board moves toward full independence: Lance Billingsley, VP at Navi Title; Christy Walker, REMAX broker/owner and immediate past president of Phoenix Realtors; and Jim Sexton, associate broker at HomeSmart. The new board is scheduled to hold its first meeting in August alongside the inaugural meeting of ARMLS's newly formed Shareholder Advisory Council, the organization said.
"There was an outpouring of talent that raised their hands for our new board," ARMLS CEO Matt Consalvo said in a news release. "This speaks to ARMLS, but also that organized real estate's passion to advance MLSs is strong."
BiggerPockets adds chief growth officer
BiggerPockets has appointed proptech entrepreneur and longtime community member Laurence Jankelow as chief growth officer.
Jankelow co-founded rental property management platform Avail, remaining with the company as general manager following its acquisition by Realtor.com. He has been an active real estate investor and BiggerPockets member for the past 15 years, according to a news release.
In his new role, Jankelow will work with CEO Eric Augustyn to guide BiggerPockets' next phase of growth. He will focus on product innovation, expanded educational resources and partnerships, and will seek to strengthen engagement among the company's more than 3 million members, the company said.
"Laurence spent more than a decade building a product that millions of landlords now rely upon because he understands their challenges firsthand," said Eric Augustyn, who stepped into the CEO role at BiggerPockets just last month. "As an investor, an entrepreneur and an active member of our community, he's exactly the kind of leader we need to help us build this exciting next chapter for BiggerPockets."
