Following the approval last week of The Real Brokerage's acquisition of REMAX Holdings, Chris Lim and Travis Saxton have announced their plans to leave the real estate franchisor, Real Estate News has learned.

Transition post-shareholder approval: Lim had served as REMAX's president and chief growth officer since January 2025, and Saxton had been executive vice president of strategy since January 2025 as well.

According to a recording obtained by Real Estate News, the two leaders announced Monday at the 2026 REMAX Broker Owner Conference that they would not be continuing on with Real REMAX Group. Reps for Real and REMAX did not immediately comment on the departures.

"As many of you know, Travis and I will not be moving forward with the new Real REMAX Group," Lim told the audience of broker owners. "But I have been incredibly honored to have served this brand. The friendships, the conversations are something that I am going to take with me forever. I am so incredibly proud of what this entire team and this leadership team has accomplished during our tenure."

"We'll be cheering you all on in the next chapter," Saxton added.

Prior to joining REMAX, Lim was president of Christie's International Real Estate for two years in the time before the @properties and Christie's International Real Estate acquisition by Compass. Before that, he also served as head of brand growth at @properties. In the past, he also held executive positions at Realogy and Climb Real Estate.

Saxton, before joining REMAX, had held various tech and marketing roles in the industry. Immediately prior to serving at REMAX, he was senior vice president of T3 Sixty for eight years, and before that, held the position of vice president of technology at RealTrends for about six years.

Past REMAX presidents: During the last few years, a handful of presidents have come and gone from REMAX. Longtime industry executive Nick Bailey held the post from 2021 to 2024 and became the company's CEO in 2022 as well.

After Bailey left in early 2024, REMAX loyalist Amy Lessinger was promoted to president. Despite her loyalty to the brand, which she had been affiliated with since 1996, Lessinger resigned after less than one year in the role.

More shifts at REMAX likely: By meeting shareholder approval of the deal last week, Real and REMAX have overcome one more hurdle to closing the acquisition. However, a representative for Real told Real Estate News that other closing conditions remain outstanding, including Real obtaining the final order of the Supreme Court of British Columbia approving the transaction.

Still, final closing conditions are expected to be met within the next few weeks.

Given that all conditions have not yet been met, the Real rep said it was "premature" to discuss further changes to the company, including any staff cuts in response to the transaction. However, internally, it has been announced that REMAX Holdings CEO Erik Carlson will step down once the transaction closes and join the Real REMAX board.
